A Four-Minute Nervous System Cool-Down (Because You Deserve to Feel Soft Again)

If winter has you a little tight in the shoulders, work feels loud, or life/family stress is making your inner glow flicker, babe… pause right here. This is your four-minute cool-down — a tiny ritual to bring your nervous system back into “soft girl mode.” It’s quick, cozy, and designed for the girl who gives a lot but still deserves a moment to breathe.

And babe… this isn’t just advice.
This is what I personally do whenever I need to reset my nervous system or bring myself back into my body.
It’s my go-to little nervous system reset — and now it’s yours too.

Think of this as your gentle reset button. Your calm corner. Your slow exhale. Let’s bring you back into your body, beautyyy.

1. Start With a Slow, Pretty Breath (30 seconds)

Sit, stand, or curl up — whatever feels comfortable and whatever works for where you are (home, work, etc.)
Inhale gently through your nose for a count of four…
Hold for two…
Exhale out your mouth for six.

Long exhales tell your nervous system, “hey babe, we’re safe here.”
Let your shoulders melt. Unclench your jaw. Drop your tongue from the roof of your mouth. Feel the shift immediately.

2. Put Your Hands Somewhere Cozy (30 seconds)

Place one hand on your chest and the other on your belly.
Feel your breath move.
Feel you.

A hand on my chest and belly makes me feel so comforted and cozy.

This little grounding technique reminds your mind that your body is not in danger — you’re just overwhelmed. And overwhelmed girls deserve comfort, not criticism.

Bonus: it feels like giving yourself a mini-hug. Very soft-girl-coded.

3. The 5-Second Facial Relax (30 seconds)

Raise your eyebrows.
Drop them.
Squeeze your eyes shut.
Soften them.
Unfurrow your forehead.
Release the space between your brows.

When the face relaxes, the vagus nerve gets a little love note. And she responds fast.

A little tidbit for the girlies: our vagus nerve does a lot of amazing things such as regulating involuntary functions such as breathing, heart rate, and digestion, controls reflexes, and influences mood and stress!

4. A Tiny Sensory Reset (1 minute)

Look around and name (in your head or out loud — your choice):

  • Something you can see that feels calm
  • Something you can hear that feels distant or gentle
  • Something you can touch that feels soft or grounding
  • Something you can smell (even if it’s just your own perfume, lotion, or coffee)

This invites your nervous system back into the present moment where life is less “chaotic spiral” and more “I’m okay right now.”

5. Sip Something Warm or Cool (30 seconds)

Water, tea, coffee, whatever your vibe — take a slow sip.
Mini-sips slow the heart rate, tell the body “we’re not rushing,” and give the brain something soothing to anchor to.

And yes… this exact little step is a non-negotiable for me.
It’s a micro-ritual that always brings me back into myself.

6. End With a Soft Thought (1 minute)

Whisper this to yourself (or read it slowly):

“I can move at my own pace. I am safe. I am capable. My softness is strength.”

Let that settle. Let it sit in your chest like warmth.

You just gave yourself a full nervous system reset in four minutes — without leaving your desk, your car, or your cozy little corner.

Final Glow Girl Reminder

A regulated nervous system makes everything feel gentler — your mood, your habits, your glow, your whole day. You don’t need an hour-long routine to reset. Sometimes, it’s this simple. This soft. This human.

And you, babe?
You deserve to feel grounded, glowing, and safe in your own body.
